TEFA Pre-K Eligibility

Children ages 3–5 may qualify for TEFA-funded Pre-K programs if they meet certain eligibility requirements.


Eligibility Criteria

A child may qualify if they are:

  • Unable to speak or comprehend English
  • Eligible for free or reduced-price lunch
  • Experiencing homelessness
  • The child of an active-duty U.S. military member
  • The child of a military member injured or killed in the line of duty
  • Currently in foster care
  • The child of a Star of Texas Award recipient
  • The child of a public school Pre-K classroom teacher

  • DFPS placement documentation
  • Pre-K verification letter

Military Families

  • Statement of service
  • Line-of-duty determination
  • Purple Heart orders

Star of Texas Award
