The Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program provides educational funding for eligible Texas children.
Application Window: February 4 – March 17, 2026
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must reside in Texas
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted resident

Parent Information
- Parent SSN or ITIN
- Child's SSN
- 2024 or 2025 Form 1040 Tax Return
Texas Residency Verification
- Texas Driver's License or State ID
If unavailable, one of the following:
- Utility bill
- Lease agreement
- Mortgage statement
- Voter registration certificate
Student Verification Documents
(If SSN cannot be verified)
- Birth certificate
- Report of birth abroad
- Certificate of naturalization
- Certificate of citizenship
- Other approved documentation
Optional Special Education Documentation
- Texas IEP
- Full Individual and Initial Evaluation (FIIE)
- Out-of-state IEP
- TEFA Disability Certification Form
Important Information
- Funding is not awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Applications are reviewed after the application window closes.
- If eligible applicants exceed available funding, a lottery process is used.
